For starters, my instant reaction to our first afternoon up in our balcony room was JUBILANT!
Within our first hour there, without leaving our room, we saw 14 species of tanagers – all at eye level, in great light, up close and personal! By the end of that day we had 18 species of colorful tanager-types on our “balcony list.” From a birding perspective, that short afternoon was only the beginning. It was a gorgeous intro to our whole Mindo experience, which frankly was a lifetime pinnacle for me. The driver and vehicle you arranged for us was perfect, and as for Julia Patiño – what can I say? She was positively brilliant, in every way that a birding guide can be. She knew all the birds, their voices, habits, and tricky ID elements, and she was a lot of fun. We all fell in love with her. Besides the superb on-site and regional birding, David, every member of your staff was incredibly courteous, friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. All eight members of our family (6 adults, 2 small kids) loved our trips to the restaurant, both for the delicious and well-presented food (incredible tropical breakfasts!) and the engaging servers. Already I have recommended Las Terrazas to a few friends, and we certainly will keep doing so. I look forward to returning – hopefully sometime soon. After all, we did see four of the famous antpitta species up there with Angel Paz and his team, but we did not get to see the big one (Giant Antpitta), as they were likely already nesting. I would return for that alone, but your area has so much more that we didn’t see. For sure, I will stay with you at Las Terrazas.

We stayed at the lodge for seven days to bird around Mindo. We were happy with the communication between the lodge and us from pre-sale, quotation, confirmation, arrival, and pick-up. This made us feel safe and comfortable on our first trip to Ecuador.

Best hotel we have stayed in by a very long mile! A MUST when visiting Mindo!
Can I just start by saying WOW! Not only is this a beautiful hotel with excellent rooms, great location, peaceful, quiet and a breakfast fit for a king but it is owned, managed and served by quite possibly some of the nicest people I have ever met.
