Baltra Island in Galapagos is usually the first island tourists visit, as the archipelago's main airport is located here. It is one of the smaller islands, located 1km north of Santa Cruz Island. Baltra North is a diving spot, with an abundance of marine life that is simply amazing. You can encounter schools of fish, rays and occasionally sea lions. There are also regular sightings of barracudas, hammerhead sharks and even whale sharks. Tropical fish you can see here are the red-lipped batfish, the galapagos clingfish and the pacific seahorse, among many others.
